Registration advising for Spring 2011

[If you’re not one of my more than 40 student advisees, please ignore this post]

Fall registration begins for Seniors on Tuesday, November 16, and opens up for everyone else gradually over that week. Make sure to check  UVM’s registration schedule to see when you may begin registering for Spring classes.

I’m setting aside enough 15 minute appointments over the next week or so to meet with all of my advisees. I’ll be available to answer any advising questions and to help review your choice of courses for the spring semester. If you’ll be a senior planning on graduating in spring 2011, you should definitely come to see me before registering so that we can make sure you’ll be set to graduate.

If you’re a student in my TAP class, you don’t need to sign up for one of these advising times. Please see me during Wednesday’s special advising session.

Keep reading after the break for further details and to choose your appointment time.

Those of you who are currently in your freshman year are required by the College of Arts and Sciences to meet with an advisor. If you’ve already declared a major other than English or Canadian Studies, I’d recommend that you make an appointment to see your advisor from that department or program. If you have not declared a major or minor, please arrange a meeting with me. Once you have met with me or another advisor we will remove the registration hold from your account. If you don’t have an advisor remove that registration hold, you will not be able to register.

English majors and minors can find descriptions of most Spring 2011 courses from the Department of English at the department’s website. On that same page, you will also find the list of courses that fill the A, B, C, D, and senior seminar requirements. It’s also worth checking the Winter Session course listings from Continuing Education in case you’d like to pick up some extra credits over the break.

Here are a few quick links that you will need when planning your courses:

BEFORE COMING TO SEE ME, ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE A GRADUATING SENIOR, MAKE SURE TO RUN A “CATS REPORT” TO SEE WHAT REQUIREMENTS YOU STILL NEED TO FILL. If possible, print a copy and bring it with you to our meeting. That will speed up the process considerably. Also, please do your best to pick your courses before our meeting.

Here are the available time slots I have in the coming days. Please e-mail me to book an appointment. I’ll fill in the taken spots on this form as I hear from you on a first-come, first-served basis.
